Michigan Golf Journal June 2019

“My peers and I consider this one of the best events on Tour, because the community is so supportive,” said LPGA golfer Mariah Stackhouse. “We travel around the world, and I particularly enjoy this event because of that support – and for what the tournament does for those who are hungry.” “We get big crowds at majors on the weekend, but we get big crowds at the Meijer every single day. And that’s really special and it makes it fun for us to come and compete.” News and Notes: • The Grand Taste will grow to include more restaurants and breweries handing out unlimited samples, all included in the one-day $40 cost per adult ($10 for kids) which includes golf tournament access, and concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings. • General admission: daily golf pass $10; weekly, $25. • Local band Great Scott will perform on the Grand Taste Garden stage Friday, plus The Golf Channel Band and Chevel Shepherd , winner of The Voice season 15, on Saturday. • Kids Clinic, age 17 and under, June 15.
