Boyne Golf Academy Will Improve Your Game

Boyne Resorts have left no stone unturned to offer golfers the finest golf experience available. They not only have outstanding golf courses, but they have top instructors at the Boyne Golf Academy that can make you better.

The Boyne Golf Academy has a mission to improve every skill level of golfer and make the game more enjoyable. They made a significant investment to build a state-of-the-art teaching center at Boyne Country Club, adjacent to the Boyne Highlands Resort.

Boyne Highlands Resort is just one of the three Boyne Resorts in northern Michigan. It includes four courses, The Heather, The Moor, The Arthur Hills and The Donald Ross Tribute, plus the Boyne Golf Academy, open to all Boyne Guests.

As the Director of Player Performance at Boyne, PGA Professional Mike Fay oversees the Boyne Academy. Fay has been nationally recognized as one of only 60 worldwide Golf Channel SwingFix instructors and has been at Boyne for six years.

The Boyne Academy uses the latest GEARS technology to create video images for every golfer to view his or her swing characteristics and recommend changes necessary to drastically lower scores. In addition to GEARS, Fay and his teaching buddy, David McWhorter use Trackman to identify, swing speed, spin rate and launch angle to assure every student receives the maximize result from every swing.

Assuring your swing is correct is only one part of the overall equation. Both Fay and McWhorter are certified club fitters and can work with any of the popular brands. They will even check your current equipment and adjust it to your swing, if needed.

Another piece of the puzzle is fitness. Fay and McWhorter are Titleist Performance Institute certified and the Academy includes fitness area for training to improve flexibility. Everyone wants to hit the ball farther, but if we don’t improve our flexibility, our turn is limited, which decreases swing speed and distance. Mike and Dave understand the interrelationship of fitness and swing and will help you with exercises to improve your golf fitness.

If you want to keep in contact with Mike or Dave after you return home, there’s an APP for that. They can set up an account on Edufii that allows you to send video or communicate directly with your coach. They currently are in contact with students from around the country.

For junior golfers Boyne Academy annually hosts the Nike Junior Golf Camp widely recognized as the best in the state, dedicated to providing elite golf instruction in a fun and safe environment.

Experienced PGA Professionals design a lesson program tailored to each camper’s skill level. The four championship courses at Boyne Highlands, The Hills, The Ross Tribute, The Moor and The Heather provide the perfect setting to implement the lessons learned on the practice tee.

Campers are housed in comfortable and safe hotel-style housing at the resort. Every camper will be sure to make new friends and enjoy the learning experience.

When you come to Boyne Academy for your personalized training experience, you will be treated to a holistic training regimen that includes work on your swing with GEARS 3-D Body Tracking System, TPI Fitness, Trackman analysis and equipment evaluation, as well as, club fitting.

This total golf improvement school is sure to lower your scores and increase your enjoyment level.

The Boyne Academy is also unique in that even when the ski resort is at full capacity in the winter months, Mike and Dave are hard at work in the Boyne Golf Academy meeting with golfers wanting to work on their game, even though there is snow on the ground.

If you are planning a ski trip to Boyne this winter, book a morning or afternoon session with the guys at the Boyne Golf Academy to improve your golf game.
