College Preview: Central Michigan Women’s Golf Team

Steady progress has been the mantra for Central Michigan since resurrecting its women’s program in 2014.

The Chippewas in early 2018 continued that trend, setting program records in virtually every individual and team category as they said good-bye to their first class of signees, including mainstays Natalie Johnson and (Clinton Twp.) and Kristen Wolf (Grand Blanc).

Jim Earle, a St. Louis native, takes over the head coaching duties from Cheryl Stacy, who resigned in mid-July. Earle coached the women’s program at Cal State Monterey Bay from 2015-18 and the women’s program at Missouri-St. Louis from 2003-15. He led both NCAA Division II programs to unprecedented success.

  • Freshman Jami Laude (Ann Arbor) finished the season with a program-record 77.75 average, while junior Bria Colosky came in at 80.08. Both are expected to return in 2018-19.

  •  Colosky fired a sizzling 3-under par 69, the best round in program history, during the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Fla.
