Forest Dunes The Loop Offers “Dual” Golf Experience

The Loop is one of the world’s most intriguing course designs as a fully-reversible layout featuring 18 greens and 36 teeing areas.

Its closest model of comparison is historic St. Andrews, which most golfers don’t realize was designed reversible but is played the opposite direction once per year, each April 1.

The Loop, however, doesn’t require a trip overseas to the home of golf – its home is right here in the Great Lakes State. So far the Red Course plays one direction one day, then Black goes the opposite way the next, alternating daily all season long – but that will have a change for 2018 to structured days of the Red routing on even-numbered days and the Black route on odd dates.

With the date changes starting this year golfers will get the unique opportunity to make a trip around The Loop in both directions on the same day. At Forest Dunes the special events will be called “The Dual,” in a best-ball handicapped event open to all.

There are three months – May, July, August – with 31-days where the even/odd schedule does not work in rotation, which created an opportunity for Forest Dunes to hold this rare special event on the final day of those three months.

The Dual days will be a two-person best-ball team event for a 36-hole one-day experience.

The three, one-day events are open to all levels of players with a registered GHIN handicap and will award both Net and Gross champions. Lunch and dinner are included at a cost of between $225 and $275 per person.

General Manager and PGA Director of Golf Chad Maveus said: “The Dual, playing both courses/directions in the same day, will be true bucket list golf. We have done it and I can honestly say there is nothing like this experience for golfers anywhere.”

In addition, Forest Dunes is providing a tribute rate during the summer months on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays on both courses for $85 for ladies, military and first responders as well as qualifying seniors age 55-and-over.
