Michigan Women at French Lick for Sr. LPGA Championship

Legend Laura Davies shot 8-under par to continue her Senior LPGA dominance by winning the Senior LPGA Championship presented by Old National Bank, played at the incredible Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort in mid-October. Davies also won the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open conducted by the USGA in July, to sweep the senior majors.

Six Michigan women competed in the event, led by the T24th-place finish of Suzy Green-Roebuck of Ann Arbor, who made the most of her exemption to play. Barb Mucha (MSU All-American) finished T30; Cindy Figg-Currier (Mt. Pleasant native) was T37; Becky Iverson (Escanaba native, MSU) ended up T49; Elaine Crosby of Jackson was T64 and Sue Ertl (Ionia native, MSU) placed 72nd.

French Lick Resort has had a great, ongoing history with women’s golf, professional and amateur. The resort worked closely with the LPGA Tour to create this event, which played the first time in 2017 and many credit as the impetus for the USGA to add the Senior Women’s Open.
