New Equipment for 2018

Ping’s new G700 Irons coming in March

PING engineers believe they have come up with a game-improvement iron that places a high priority on power and forgiveness by leveraging the advantages of a hollow-body design and a thin, maraging steel face, creating PING’s longest, highest-flying iron to date.

The hollow-body construction of the 17-4 stainless steel head allows for an internal geometry design that positions weight away from the face, creating a frame for metal-wood-like flexing and high COR to greatly increase ball speed for launching the ball higher and farther. The engineering says that sole width, bounce and offset will allow for better turf interaction to improve ball striking, which contributes to forgiveness and distance control without sacrificing playability and height.

Titleist offers 6 different grinds for wedges

When it comes to the ever-evolving custom-fit equipment offerings, Titleist now offers six different wedge grinds in the new SM7 wedge to fit a wide variety of the most finicky short games.

Titleist says the F grind is an all-purpose grind that is particularly suited for full shots and shots hit with a square face and would be ideal for players who prefer a traditional wedge sole. They claim the F grind is the most played sand wedge on Tour.

The M Grind, said to be designer Bob Vokey’s favorite, is made for players that like to rotate the club face open and closed to manufacture shots around the green.

The S Grind is best for square faced shots with a touch more versatility than the F grind. Simple mechanics are best with this wedge.

The D Grind is said to be the player’s high bounce wedge. High measured bounce with the crescent shape of the M grind should be ideal for players with a steeper angle of attack who play with a variety of clubface positions.

The K Grind is the highest bounce wedge in the lineup, designed to be the ultimate bunker club. The K Grind is a wide, full sole wedge with enhanced camber to make it forgiving from a variety of sand and turf conditions.

The L grind features a narrow crescent shape allowing maximum greenside versatility. Titleist says it is perfect for firm conditions and designed for skilled players who frequently open or close the clubface to create shots around the green.
