Three Pro-Ams at LPGA Volvik Championship

Three Pro-Am events will kick off the 3rd LPGA Volvik Championship in late May – one for Mott Children’s Hospital, then the Valor Cup benefitting the Eisenhower Center, followed by the traditional pro-am for the LPGA event.

The 4-day pro tournament, which features many top names from the LPGA Tour and is televised on the Golf Channel, will take place at Travis Pointe Country Club, in Ann Arbor, May 24-27.

Kicking off the week, May 21, the LPGA Volvik Championship will host the first annual C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Congenital Heart Center LPGA Pro-Am.

“Congenital heart disease is the number one birth defect in the country,” said Dr. John Charpie, Division Director, Pediatric Cardiology, and Co-Director of the Congenital Heart Center. “We are allowing kids – who 25 years ago wouldn’t have survived – the opportunity to not only live, but to thrive.”

As an encore to last year’s world first and only all-female military veteran Pro-Am, the Valor Cup returns on Tuesday, May 22. In partnership with Ann Arbor-based Eisenhower Center, this event will once again be played at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base golf course and is organized by the LPGA Volvik Championship as part of the tournament’s Military Appreciation program and connection to Memorial Day weekend.

The Eisenhower Center pairs veterans with professional athletes to improve the success rates of therapy, while providing a larger voice for those in need.

Also, that same Tuesday evening, the LPGA Volvik Championship Official Pro-Am presented by Vertiv kicks off with a festive Pairings Party at Michigan Stadium.  All official Pro-Am competitors will enjoy an evening of entertainment and an opportunity to try their hands at an array of different golf challenges on the turf at the Big House.

On May 23, official Pro-Am participants will play 18 holes of golf alongside LPGA professionals in a fun and relaxed atmosphere on the Championship Course at Travis Pointe Country Club.

Spots are available, but limited, for this unique opportunity. To participate or for more information visit www.volviklpga.com/pro-am, or call 734.707.0789.

Ariya Jutanugarn (2016) of Thailand and Shanshan Feng (2017) of China captured the first two LPGA Volvik Championship titles.
