2019 Award Winners of Michigan Golf Course Association

Bob Koutnik, owner of Fox Run Country Club in Grayling, received the Lyle Leeke Distinguished Service Award, presented to an individual who has displayed distinguished service to the MGCA and the golf industry in the state of Michigan.  He’s a catalyst for Patriot Golf Day in Michigan and recipient of the first Patriot Golf Award from the Michigan Section PGA.

   Janina Jacobs received the Matthews Lifetime Achievement Award, presented for a lifetime of steadfast leadership, outstanding service and continuous commitment to the Michigan golf industry. Jacobs is a multi-media consultant specializing in golf, business, music, nutrition, fitness, community and women’s issues.

Ferris State University’s Professional Golf Management Program earned the Award of Merit, reserved for significant, measurable and meaningful work in and for the golf industry and beyond. The Professional Golf Management program at Ferris is iconic in Michigan where it was founded in 1975 as the first of its kind sanctioned by the PGA of America.

The Detroit Golf Club was voted 2019 Golf Course of the Year, which each year honors a member course in good standing that has demonstrated exceptional quality of the golf course, quality of ownership and management, outstanding contribution to its community and significant contributions to the game.
