Michigan Golf Journal College Corner, Season Previews Oakland University Men: Chris Handy, credit Jose Juarez Veronica Haque, credit Jose Juarez Head coach Nick Pumford enters his fourth season at the helm of the Oakland men’s golf program and looks to continue to set new standards for 2019-20. The Golden Grizzlies return All-Horizon League First Team selection Chris Handy for his senior campaign. A season ago, the England native led the team in scoring average, was the No. 1 ranked player in the Horizon League, and registered a team-best four top-10 finishes on the season. Junior Thomas Giroux looks to build off an impressive sophomore season that saw him earn All-Horizon League Second Team honors. Be on the lookout for sophomore Colin Sikkenga, who was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament team a season ago after finishing tied for fourth with a score of 221 (+5) at the league championship. Highly touted incoming freshman Freddy D’Angelo and transfer Reinhardt Saunderson will also look to make an immediate impact. Fifth-year head coach Alyssa Gaudio will field many new faces for the 2019-20 Golden Grizzlies squad with just one starting lineup returner coming back. With the help of lone senior Karsen Johnston, the Golden Grizzlies will be led by two-time all-league selection Veronica Haque as she returns for her junior campaign. Oakland added four newcomers in transfer Amalia Shahzan (Cincinnati) and true freshman Emily Fleming, Mariella Simoncini and Kay Zubkus.  Sydney Martens and Keilani Doss return for their junior and sophomore seasons respectively for Oakland, who has finished runner-up at the conference championship in back-to-back seasons.  Content provided by Max King Oakland University Women:
