Michigan Golf Journal September 2019
There have been a bunch of Golden Bear sightings in Michigan this season. There could be more, but we know Jack Nicklaus has made no less that two visits to Grand Haven to the new American Dunes Golf Club he’s designing with his associate Chris Cochran – which hopefully you just read on the previous 3 pages. Then there was the visit to Oakland Hills the week of the Michigan Amateur to celebrate the 100 th anniversary of the GAM and help raise well over $100,000 for the GAM Foundation’s mission of funding Youth on Course (see a full review of Jack’s comments in July’s Michigan Golf Journal). And upcoming is at least one more opportunity for fans to see the Golden Bear, and the highest bidder in a charity auction can even be Nicklaus’ caddie for a day , at the Ally Challenge Celebrity Shootout at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc in mid-September (see story details on page 12). Having the Greatest of All Time spend so much time in the state he loves to tease the most (he’s an Ohio State Buckeye) has been a great honor. I have enjoyed tremendously bringing these stories to you – and I hope you’ve enjoyed them just as much.
