Michigan Golf Journal Rocket Mortgage Classic Rickie, Phil and Bubba Are Coming to Detroit Rocket Mortgage Classic Announced $1.2 million in 2019 Charity Dollars – And More Fan Options in 2020 By Tom Lang DETROIT – The PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic recently landed early commitments from Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson for the May 25-31 tournament at Detroit Golf Club. “We are off to a great start as we prepare for our 2020 tournament (and) to have Rickie and Bubba return to Detroit for a second straight year, and be joined by a legend like Phil as part of our early player commitments, has us all excited for our second year,” said Jason Langwell, the Executive Director of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. “Our inaugural event was successful by many measures, and the word is starting to spread among the players that this is a tournament they must have on their schedules.” General admission tickets went on sale January 22 and can be purchased exclusively online at RocketMortgageClassic. com , providing admission to the tournament grounds, public grandstands, concessions and fun interactive areas. The tournament recently announced its charitable donations total for year one, to the tune of $1.2 million, but equally interesting and encouraging are early plans for 2020. Langwell said at the announcement at DGC in mid-January that he felt the Detroit event’s location, and being scheduled right before Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament in Ohio, could draw more big name golfers.
