Michigan News and Notes New Head Pro at Detroit Golf Club, Josh Upson The Detroit Golf Club is adding another chapter to its 120-year history, with a new Head Golf Professional, and modern-day improvements to its Albert Kahn-designed clubhouse. Josh Upson becomes Detroit Golf Club’s new Head Golf Professional, most recently serving as Head Golf Professional at Medinah Country Club in Illinois. “We were impressed by Josh’s experience garnered at clubs across the country and his expertise,” said Mark Douglas, president, Detroit Golf Club in a statement. Upson will oversee day-to-day operations of the Club’s golf program and lead the charge at the club’s newly renovated pro shop, which is one portion of a $4.5 million overall clubhouse renovation. The USGA, Masters Tournament and PGA of America announced that registration for 2020-2021 Drive, Chip and Putt qualifying is now officially open on DriveChipandPutt.com . Drive, Chip and Putt is a fun and free youth golf development initiative for junior golfers of all skill and ability levels, aimed at sparking a lifelong interest in the game. The initiative welcomes boys and girls, ages 7-15, to participate in local qualifying events, May – August. Entrants will play in girls’ and boys’ divisions in four age categories. Oakland Hill Country Club will host one of the final regional qualifiers in the fall for a second consecutive year . The winners at Oakland Hills will move directly to the DCP National Finals at Augusta National in April, 2021.
