Michigan Golf Journal A New Nine Saskatoon Golf Club near Grand Rapids may simply have saved its best for last. The public course near Caledonia first developed nine holes in the early 1960s and added more golf as time passed and the location became a popular spot. With four 9s in play since 1992, the latest edition has been a long time coming. Original owner Bill Howard approved the new expansion, but he died in the spring while construction was underway. The new 9, which will be called the Silver Course, also brought long-time Michigan designer Jerry Matthews out of retirement to reunite with one of his protégés, Paul Albanese.
