Nemo Tsai sure is getting the most out of life. And he is only 11 years old. Since the summer of 2019, Nemo Tsai of Ann Arbor has been competing and winning his age group nationwide on the USKids Golf circuit and occasional other tournaments – at courses such as Pinehurst No. 1, Mission Hills in Palm Springs and Torrey Pines near San Diego. Golf is his No. 1 passion. He is an excellent putter and is gaining accuracy off the tee. In February, he set a new all-time Boys 11-12 age-group scoring record on the Florida Junior Tour with a 7-under 65. A 13-year-old competitor in Michigan said: “he’s the real deal.” But Nemo has also been learning to bake and cook, well enough to the point that his Instagram posts caught the eye of television Food Network producers who invited him to compete in the most recent Season 9 National Kids Baking Championships, which taped in August and aired this winter. Nemo finished in the top 5 and hopes to try more competitions in the future. His signature is a candied bacon cake. He caught the ‘baking bug’ from his father’s family, which has been in the restaurant and food sales industry for decades.
