Charlie Woods Just before Christmas the global golf world was buzzing over the play of Tiger Woods’ 11-year-old son Charlie. Golf media, social media and conversations amongst friends were dominated in the multiple ways Charlie seemed to be a mirror image of his famous father, while they played as a team at the made- for-TV PNC Championship. Bottom line, it was simply fun and heartwarming to watch a father and son enjoy the great game of golf together. The fact it played out to a national TV audience was even better. Parents everywhere who love golf want to experience the same with their own children – I know I do. And maybe Charlie’s performance will help make that goal more possible for other parents, too. It already has for at least two families from Novi. Neighbors Chris Whitten and Jeff Boxman said their son’s – Lucas Whitten and Desmond Boxman, both age 9 – were so excited to see Charlie perform well on TV that the boys want to increase their involvement in the game. “It was just really fun watching him and how far he could hit, and like, knowing The Charlie Woods Effect By Tom Lang Will the great play of Tiger’s son on TV attract more youth to today’s game?
