Yet both Lucas and Desmond admitted they became so much more enthusiastic about golf after watching Charlie Woods, that they want to transfer more of their play time into golf this year. “We’re so used to seeing the pros on TV, but for Lucas to see a kid who’s so close to his age, with the pros, was really cool,” Chris Whitten said. “We all know Tiger Woods as the competitor, but to see him in that totally new role I think opened a lot of people’s eyes and got people excited to try some things with their own kids. “Charlie’s routine was so good, and he didn’t seem intimidated by playing with Justin Thomas or anybody else. I think it gives a lot of dad’s some excitement to get out there more with their kids.” Lucas Whitten said he has visited the range and has played on a course a handful of times but this coming year he wants to tryout for Drive, Chip and Putt and will likely enter his first-ever tournament.
