By Tom Lang Michigan Golf Journal Solheim Cup Coming Soon For fans of women’s pro golf, there are three great local opportunities to see world- class play from the LPGA Tour and beyond this summer. The Meijer LPGA Classic and Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational for starters – but an added bonus is the Solheim Cup , the world’s premier bi-annual team event pitting Team USA vs. European players. The three competition rounds will be played at Inverness Club in Toledo , Labor Day weekend, Saturday-Monday, Sept. 4-6. The golf itself will be huge entertainment for golf fans, as the USA will try to avenge the 14.5-to-13.5-point loss to Europe in 2019. Yet outside the ropes the tournament plans some solid musical entertainment as well. Gwen Stefani is set to headline the concert following the Opening Ceremonies on Friday, Sept. 3. She is a three-time GRAMMY® Award winner and has achieved global success as a performer, songwriter, frontwoman for an iconic rock band and multi-platinum solo artist – in addition to being a regular judge on NBC’s The Voice. Chris Young will perform on Saturday night of the Solheim Celebration. He is a multi- platinum country singer and songwriter. In 2006, he was declared the Season 4 winner of the television program Nashville Star. He’s earned 11 No. 1 singles.
