Joey Garber, a Petoskey native who is sponsored by Boyne Resorts, earned his PGA Tour Card in mid-August by finishing 19th on the Web.com Tour money list through the season-ending championship in Portland, Oregon. He won the Rex Hospital Open in June, giving him a major lift in the standings that he held onto the remainder of the season.
During a stellar Junior career Garber won three major tournaments in Michigan in 2010 alone – the Division 2 high school state title, the Michigan Junior State Amateur and the crowning Michigan Amateur against all the adults – the summer before joining the golf team at University of Michigan. After one season he transferred to the University of Georgia and after graduation (2014) spent four years on mini tours.
