Membership registration for the nonprofit 501(c)(3) Michigan Women’s Golf Association (MWGA) for the 2021 season is open to amateur female golfers of all levels who love the game and desire to play in flighted competitive events that follow USGA rules. In addition to nine competitive events at premier golf courses in Michigan, members also have access to an optional MWGA Match Play League and receive automatic membership to the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM), including a USGA handicap index.
MWGA competitive events run May through September. Online membership and event registration, as well as information about MWGA’s well-known Girls Golf Program for Detroit-area youth, can be found at www.mwgolf.org.
The MWGA is designed to help amateur female golfers develop their golf skills and an understanding of USGA rules through competitions, skills clinics, mentorships and opportunities to grow friendships among women who play golf.
“Michigan women who love golf, whether they are aspiring high school athletes or seniors keeping their game sharp during retirement, are encouraged to play in the MWGA,” said President Cynthia Pinkard said. “We are first and foremost a women’s organization and female golfers will find support, mentorship and friendship in the MWGA.”
