Alex Scott Makes History as 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup Selection

   Grand Valley State senior men’s golfer Alex Scott was named to the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup as one of 12 male representatives for the United StatesThe Traverse City native becomes the first Laker in GVSU history to earn the honor and is the lone Division II male student-athlete to be selected this year. 

   The Ryder Cup-style event will take place in Roland, Ark.on June 7-9. The competition consists of a U.S. team and an International team made up of 12 men and 12 women. Scott was a committee selection. 

   “It’s an unbelievable accomplishment,” said GVSU head coach Gary Bissell. “This further establishes him as one of the elite amateurs in the world. To be from a northern Division II school and to build the resume he has is simply remarkable.”

   The women’s team will be coached by Canadian representative Jan Dowling, the coach at University of Michigan.
