Recent Grand Valley State men’s golf graduate Alex Scott was named the recipient of the Michael Carter “Junior” Memorial Award following the conclusion of the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup. Scott, one of just 24 members of the United States team, won his final matchup of the event but the International Team earned the overall victory over the United States at the 23rd edition of the event.
The award is presented to a member of both the United States Team and the International Team who best represents the qualities and ideals of Michael Carter. Carter, a former Penn State University golfer and GCAA Arnold Palmer Cup intern, tragically passed away in an automobile accident in 2002 at 19 years of age. This award was created to memorialize him at the event each season and was taken home by Scott and Leonie Harm of Gerlingen, Germany.
