Brad Byrd of Belleville topped Kevin Voke of Rochester 2-up to win the Senior Division of the Michigan Publinx Championship.
Byrd topped reigning Michigan Publinx Senior Medal Play champion Andrew Smith of Oakland Township 2 and 1 in a Sunday afternoon semifinal, while Voke got to the finals with a 2 and 1 win over Leon Stadwick of Roseville.
Byrd, 54 and an operations manager for ABF Trucking Co., was playing in the Publinx Match Play for just the second time.
“It made the quarterfinals last year, so I thought I would try again,” he said. “Everything came together in my game the last two weeks. I’m playing about the best golf of my life right now actually.”
