Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded over 29,000 scholarships totaling over $145 million. Among the scholarship recipients, 41 percent are minorities.

Folds of Honor was founded by Lt Col Dan Rooney, a PGA Member and F-16 fighter pilot currently stationed at Eglin AFB Florida as a member of the 301st Fighter Squadron who served three combat tours in Iraq. Rooney is the only-ever combination fighter pilot and PGA professional. He played collegiate golf at Kansas, had a short pro career on mini tours and is a two-time motivational speaker for the U.S. Ryder Cup Team.

The new American Dunes Golf Club that will open early May in Grand Haven has become a major focus of Folds of Honor. The Rooney family purchased the Grand Haven Golf Club about 20 years ago and have recently transformed the property into American Dunes, designed by Hall-of-Famer Jack Nicklaus. Monies raised from golfers playing American Dunes will help fund additional Folds of Honor scholarships.
