Four Michigan Golfers Reached Match Play at USGA Mid-Amateur  

   Dan Ellis, the assistant golf coach at MSU where he also played his collegiate career, made it to the Sweet 16 of the 39th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship in Parker, Colorado, before being knocked out by Australian Lukas Michel, 4-and-3.  

   Flint native and former MSU golfer Jimmy Chestnut, who won the 2008 Michigan Amateur, reached the second round of match play before going down to Joseph Deraney of Tupelo, Miss. 

   Scott Strickland of Bloomfield Hills, and Nick Gunthorpe of East Lansing, also made it into match play before their run ended in the first match.
