Leon Braisted III Earns National Coach of the Year

Bloomfield Hills Marian and Birmingham Brother Rice head coach Leon Braisted III was voted National Golf Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Association’s Coaches Association.

Marian was state runner up in the fall 2017 and Rice finished 7th last spring. Braisted coached prior at Birmingham Seaholm (both boys and girls) and there won five Div. 2 girls’ state championships and the boys had a runner up in 1999.

“I do not turn any students away from being on the team whether they know how to play golf or not,” he said. “There is much one can learn from being a teammate and facing the challenge of self-improvement, along with meeting new friends.”
