Michigan Women’s Golf Assoc.

The Michigan Women’s Golf Association Hall of Fame has accepted the nomination of 8 women who have made outstanding contributions to the game, in one or more of a variety of ways. The ladies who are voted in will be inducted in July at a ceremony at Hawk Hollow Golf Club.

JULIA BALDWIN:

For over 35 years, Julia has been involved with junior golf as a volunteer and as a LPGA Teaching Professional. As a young girl growing up in Goodwater, AL, the racial climate and family circumstances caused Julia to leave school before graduation. Yet later in life she became involved with the Tee Set, Police Athletic League, LPGA Junior and Urban Youth Golf Program, Tiger Woods Foundation, Midnight Golf Program, City of Detroit Recreation Department, and the MWGA LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program.

JUDY FIGA:

Judy has been a dedicated member of the MWGA since 1986. She has also been a member of the WMGA, GAM, and the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame Committee. She has been a Rules Official for GAM, the NCAA and USGA, plus a Course Rater for the GAM, being named a GAM Course Rater of the Year in 2007 and Course Rater Trainer of the Year in 2009.

DEB HORNING:

Deb has served on the Board of Directors for 19 years). She was instrumental in standardizing and computerizing MWGA tournaments and procedures for registration, recording results, and financial reports. As a player, she has won the MWGA Golfer of the Year 4 times and MWGA Player of the Year 7 times. She has represented the Publinks in the Women’s Atlas Trophy Matches 4 years. She qualified and played in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship in 2009.

​MARTHA MACINTOSH:

Martha has served as a MWGA Board Member and Governor of the GAM. She has been a Rules Official for 30 years for the GAM, NCAA and USGA. She has mentored and volunteered with kindness and humor, while winning the Michigan Women’s Golf Leadership Award in 2001.

JEANNE MYERS:

Jeanne Myers, has an incredible list of accomplishments not only in MI but also throughout the USA and internationally. She was inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in 2006 and received the GAM Distinguished Service Award in 2018. Her accomplishments include: 48 USGA Championships Rules Official, including 13 U.S. Women’s Opens and 3 U.S. Men’s Opens. USGA Women’s Committee Chair, Women’s World Amateur Team Championship Captain in 2006 and first woman GAM President (2005).

PAT MYERS:

Pat was a Founder of the MWGA and has been a dedicated member since 1986. She served on the Board of Directors for 7 years. She was the tournament Director of the Spring Scramble for 5 years and managed the “Pick-a- Pro” Contest for 14 years. She was a course rater for the GAM for 18 years. She also financially supports several women’s golf groups and the college teams at MSU and U-M.

JEAN MURRAY:

Jean is well-known for her playing ability as well as her service to the game. She has won 10 MWGA State Championships and the very first GAM Women’s Senior Championship. She played in 7 Atlas Cups and was on the GAM Senior Women’s Honor Roll 4 times. She qualified and played in two U.S. Senior Women’s Championships. She coached at Mt. Pleasant High for 9 years (Coach of the Year in 1986). She also coached LPGA players Cindy Figg-Currier and Kelly Robbins during that time.

DEBBIE WILLIAMS:

Debbie is the Golf Academy Director at Brookside Golf Club in Saline and current instructor of the MWGA and AAWGA LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Programs – adding head coach duties at Saline High. Before becoming an LPGA Tour professional, she was an elite Olympic javelin thrower for U-M. Williams was a 2-time Michigan Women’s Amateur Champion and qualified for seven U.S. National Championships. She won the Michigan Women’s Open and twice lost in playoffs on the LPGA Symetra Tour. Debbie was inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in June 2018.
