There will be plenty of question marks for the women’s golf team to start the new season. The Eagles not only have to replace their top player from a season ago, but also their coach. Eastern lost senior Thelma Beck, who led the squad with a 77.39 scoring average, but Head Coach Pina Gentile also resigned her position in late July to return close to her family.
Eastern has plenty of pieces to build upon as six players return that appeared in tournaments last year. Senior Penelope Guilleux notched three top-10 showings in 2017-18 with a scoring average of 77.50. Junior Maria Connelly and sophomore Preaw Sripatrprasite will also need to add consistency into the mix, as both players added top-10 finishes a season ago.
EMU opens the season at the Mary Fossum Invitational, Sept. 15-16, then will host the 2nd Annual Shirley Spork Invitational, Oct. 8-9, at EagleCrest Golf Course.
