Perhaps the most comprehensive Michigan-based golf calendar for Junior players is the Callaway & Meijer Junior Golf Tour, administered by G.O.L.F. – or Game Of your Life Foundation – founded 25 years ago, and today has more than 800 participants accessing almost three dozen tournaments. Events for boys and girls are one or two days long for ages ranging from 7-to-19.
Alumni include PGA Tour winner Brian Stuard (Jackson) and PGA Tour player Joey Garber (Petoskey), LPGA winners Morgan Pressel (Grosse Pointe) and Kris Tamulis (Lapeer), plus current Web.com player Ryan Brehm (Mt. Pleasant) – and dozens of head pros at clubs across America.
The 2019 schedule has four spring events in May, including the opener at Egypt Valley CC, then 24 summer tournaments running in June and July before a short fall season starts in August and culminates at The Fortress for the Fall Series Championship. Other courses hosting the statewide summer events include: Forest Akers East and West, Fox Hills, College Fields, The Orchard, Boulder Creek, Battle Creek CC and U-M’s home course and Radrick Farms.
