Tons of GREAT Golf in Ohio

We are hitting the home stretch for golf in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. The days are beginning to shorten, but the warm weather makes us want to squeeze out every round of golf possible before football season begins in earnest.

NWO Golf Links wants to congratulate Judd Silverman and his team at the Marathon Classic for hosting another successful LPGA Tour event at Highland Meadows. I.K. Kim put on quite a show on Sunday posting an eight-under-par 63 to claim the title over fan favorite, Lexi Thompson. As always, Toledo-area children’s charities are the BIG winners from the charitable dollars generated from the tournament.

The final major championship of the year in men’s golf, the PGA Championship will be held this month in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has historically been the fourth and final major of the year, but there is talk of moving it to a May time slot, making The Open Championship the final major of the year.

We also have a big event in Ohio every August, the WGC-Bridgestone. It features the best golfers in the world at historic Firestone Golf Club in Akron.

If you want to see the PGA Tour stars of tomorrow mixed with current tour players fighting to keep their tour privileges for next year, two of the Web.com Tour’s Final Series events will be held in Ohio.

The Scarlet Course at OSU will host the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, August 31-September 3. The third leg of the Web.com Final Series, The DAP Championship will be hosted by Canterbury Club in Cleveland September 21-24.

We are happy to feature Gull Lake View Resort near Battle Creek, Michigan this month’s cover. Three generations of the Scott family have continued to grow the resort into one of the best golf values available. They recently opened a sixth course at the resort, “Stoatin Brae” and it is a must-play for Golfaholics.

Get out and PLAY! Before you know it, the snow will be covering the ground and you will regret not getting in enough golf this summer.

Hopefully, I’ll catch on the Back 9.
