This edition of the Michigan Golf Journal is filled with stories about winners in our great game of golf. It starts with the excellent Michigan State women’s golf team taking its second consecutive Big Ten Championship crown with its trio of leaders showing the way.
With a national ranking as high as No. 10 this year, coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll and her crew of talented young ladies have dominated the conference golf scene and have done very well in tournaments against teams from across the country –great preparation for the NCAAs.
Then there is a follow up story on the four Michigan youth golfers who went to the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National and came back with some serious hardware for their efforts.
This month is also stocked full of information on professional tournaments in Michigan this summer, five from the national tours alone. If you like watching pro golf there is no better way than doing so in person, walking alongside great players, smelling the fresh grass and aroma of popcorn; enjoying the outdoors.
Another winner is Treetops Resort and its efforts to help military active duty and veterans learn and improve at the game of golf. A fine and noble program is taking place up north and can be implemented almost anywhere to help such special groups of people.
